News Canada launches digital service

Toronto-based News Canada has launched a new service that will distribute video news releases and other forms of public relations content suitable for digital media such as the Internet. The service involves taking a client's materials and producing a video segment resembling a news item, then promoting and distributing it to major Canadian Internet providers and other publishers of digital content. The company described the digital service as a natural progression from its existing service of producing similar content for print media and television broadcasters. "With such a rapid growth of digital media, and 90% of consumers relying on the Internet as their first source of information, it was essential to incorporate this new media and reach this new demographic," said Nicolas Sleeth, executive vice-president of sales and marketing at News Canada.
