Family Channel prepares Summer Chill Tour

Astral Media specialty network Family Channel is readying a third iteration of its "Summer Chill Tour" promotion. The national tour will run this year in association with Mattel, Kisko and various local city parks and recreation departments. The effort will include 65 stops, beginning in St. John's on July 1 and ending in Vancouver on Aug. 27. Attendees at tour stops will receive freezies and Ice Pop-Its from Kisko and play water tag with Shield Blaster squirt guns from Mattel. The initiative will also promote the channel's summer programming blocks for teens, called "Mad Mad Summer." The tour will be lead by two brand spokescharacters called The Chills. The Family.ca website will host a blog in which these characters will describe their trip. The site will also contain a game, tour pictures and a message board when it launches on June 24.
