Global prepares summer contest

Global Television will begin a contest next month called "Global's Calling, if you're in you could win." The purpose of the contest is to promote the network's summer schedule. Viewers can register for the contest at globaltv.com beginning July 1. From July 11 to Sept. 4, representatives from Global will call or visit selected entrants during the prime time period. If the entrant knows the code word for the day, they will win between $1,000 to $10,000. A total of approximately $500,000 will be given away during the contest. "This summer we're inviting viewers to watch some great programming that they may have missed during the fall and winter months," said Judi Allen, acting senior vice-president of marketing. "We're thanking them for tuning into Global." To promote the contest, 10,000 Global-branded wallets will be scattered through Toronto and Vancouver. Ten people who find these wallets and register at the website will receive $1,000. Global will also use two branded vehicles that will visit various community events to encourage people to register. These people will also be eligible to win $1,000. Advertising for the contest will include outdoor, print, online and television creative, plus public relations. The contest and its supporting promotion are being handled by Capital C of Toronto. Global Television is owned CanWest MediaWorks, a subsidiary of CanWest Global Communications.
