VANCOUVER TRANSLINK BEGINS AD FIRM SEARCH
By Adnews Staff
Vancouver transit system operator TransLink issued a request for proposals from out-of-home advertising companies on Wednesday. The selected firm will handle all advertising on TransLink vehicles and properties for a 10-year period beginning Aug. 1. This contract has been held by Obie Media since 1998. The firm has indicated that it will bid for the new contract. Obie Media estimates TransLink's 2005 advertising revenue will be $5.3 million. Obie Media's US parent company is in the process of being purchased by Lamar Advertising of Baton Rouge. This merger, which began in September, will be completed next month. In this country, the new entity's subsidiary will be called Lamar Canada.
