LEXMARK HAS NEW AGENCY IN U.S., POSSIBLY IN CANADA
By Adnews Staff
Lexmark International of Greenwich, Connecticut has moved its U.S. ad account to Grey Advertising of New York. The change could be made in Canada as well, but no decision will be taken for a while, Canadian marketing communications manager Colleen Brown told Adnews yesterday. In Canada, the printer manufacturer uses MacLaren: McCann of Toronto for media advertising. In the U.S., Ammirati & Puris/Lintas of New York was the incumbent for the business, but resigned in February as part of its efforts to focus on larger accounts. Grey, whose sister company Grey Direct was already doing direct marketing for Lexmark, got the business in a competition with D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles of New York. In Canada, MacLaren:Lintas of Toronto was part of the Interpublic Group's U.S.-based Lintas agency chain until the spring this year, when it was merged with McCann-Erickson Advertising to form MacLaren: McCann. At that time the Toronto office of Ammirati & Puris was renamed Ammirati & Puris/Lintas to bring it into line with other Ammirati & Puris operations around the globe, which were renamed after Interpublic bought Ammirati & Puris and folded it into the Lintas chain last year.
