MDC BUYS BANJO

Toronto-based MDC Partners has bought a majority stake in Banjo, a San Francisco-based firm that creates "strategic entertainment properties." Banjo's clients include General Mills and Unilever. The firm was founded by Patrick Madden and Ron Walter. Mark Simmons also recently joined the company. According to MDC, this is part of the company's effort to "build disciplines that are complementary to advertising and marketing."
