ROGERS TO BUY MICROCELL

Rogers Wireless Communications, Rogers Communications and Microcell Telecommunications have entered an agreement by which Rogers Wireless will purchase Microcell for $1.4 billion. Microcell markets communication services under the Fido brand name. The deal is expected to close before the end of the year. Combined, Rogers Wireless and Microcell will have approximately 5.1 million customers. The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and Microcell shareholder acceptance.
