TWO DESIGN COMPANIES MERGE
By Adnews Staff
Taylor & Browning Design Associates of Toronto and Karo Design Resources of Vancouver are now operating under the name Karo. The move is the first step in a merger that's about two years away. The aim is to allow each firm to service clients on a national basis. "An increasing number of major companies and organizations require support in both eastern and western Canada," Karo Toronto chairman Paul Browning says in a release. "A one-city shop can't effectively provide that kind of service." Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa all have Caro offices now. They are linked together electronically and plans call for the installation of high speed data lines. Taylor & Browning was formed in 1982. Last year it bought Maruska which is now the Karo office in Ottawa. Karo began operations 25 years ago as West Graphika and five years later opened Cal Graphika in Calgary. The name Karo was adopted in 1988.
