ABC CANADA RELEASES NEW PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS
By Adnews Staff
ABC Canada Literacy Foundation has begun distributing copies of its two new television public service announcements to Canadian television stations. The 30-second ads were developed by Toronto-based Brandworks International. The first, called "Munsch," is aimed at children. In it, children's author Robert Munsch and a group of children sing a song about family literacy. Munsch encourages children to "read, write, surf or sing with family tonight." The second ad, called "Kids," is aimed at parents and caregivers. In it, children describe the reading activities they do as a family. ABC Canada said it hopes stations will air the ads throughout the year, especially in the weeks leading up to Family Literacy Day on Jan. 27. Broadcasters who have already agreed to run the spots include Global TV, CTV and Alliance Atlantis.
