MUSIC EDUCATION CAMPAIGN BEGINS

The Coalition for Music Education in Canada is using print and television advertising to promote music education in Canadian schools. Called "Making Music Makes You Smarter," the campaign is based on research regarding the impact of music education on the cognitive and social development of children. The 30-second television commercial and two print ads were created pro-bono by the doug agency of Toronto. The advertising is being supported with a series of 15- and 30-second public service announcements. In these ads, Canadian recording artists describe their memories of music classes and affirm their support of music education. A French-language PSA has been created. Public relations for the organization are handled by Trillium Corporate Communications of Toronto.
