ULTRAMAR RE-ISSUES COUPON BOOKLETS

Montreal-based Ultramar has begun another coupon booklet promotion called "Reveal-A-Deal." Approximately 4.5 million booklets will be distributed in Quebec, Ontario and Atlantic Canada. The books contain coupons for free coffee and discounts on gas and Fuji Film disposable cameras in some regions. Thirty poeple will receive year-long free fill-up prizes valued at $2,000. Ultramar and the Atlantic Lottery Corporation will also offer instant rebates on 6/49 tickets and hold a draw for $6,490. Ultramar and HomEnergy will offer prizes of $2,000 in heating oil and coupons for discounts on air conditioners. Marketing for the booklets varies by region. In Quebec a 30-second French-language television ad with Ultramar spokesperson Michel Barrette is running. In Atlantic Canada a 30-second English-language radio commercial is airing. In Ontario the booklets are being promoted with point-of-sale materials. The concept for the booklets was developed by Montreal-based Palm Publicité Marketing. The agency also created the supporting television, radio and in-store materials.
