MCDONALD'S BEGINS MAD MONEY MANIA GAME

Toronto-based McDonald's Restaurants of Canada began a new game called "Mad Money Mania" on Friday. The initiative will run at participating Canadian restaurants until June 19. Customers receive scratch and win cards with the purchase of an Extra Value Meal or Entrée Salad. Customers who buy a Super Size meal will receive an additional game card. Cash prizes range from $5 to $25,000. Food prizes include Big Mac sandwiches, McChicken sandwiches, Egg McMuffins, pies, cones and McFlurry desserts. The game is being promoted with a 30-second television commercial called "Hyper-Vent," running nationally in English and French. A 30-second English-language radio ad is also running nationally, excluding Quebec. Additional promotion includes in-store merchandising and public relations. The game concept was developed by Marketing Store. The advertising was done by Cossette Communication-Marketing. Public relations are being handled by Weber Shandwick Worldwide. All of these firms are based in Toronto.
