ZANTAC GOING OVER THE COUNTER

Warner-Lambert is launching an over-the-counter version of its acid blocker Zantac 75 in the U.S. in April. TV, radio and print ads created by J. Walter Thompson of New York will support the launch. Warner-Lambert in Canada is still waiting for government approval of the non-prescription version of the heartburn remedy. If it does get approval, JWT's Toronto office will work on the ad account in Canada. It will either localize ads created in the U.S. and the U.K. or create original ads. Johnson & Johnson*Merck Consumer Pharmaceuticals of Canada is also waiting for government approval on its over-the-counter acid blocker, Pepcid AC. Advertising for this product is to be done by Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising of Toronto.
