CD-ROM MARKET GROWING

Sales of children's educational CD-ROMs are expected to reach nearly $2.5 million(US) by the year 2000, according to a study by Packaged Facts of New York. Sales for 1995 are estimated at $773.8 million, an increase of 63.2% over 1994. About $663.8 million of these sales were in the home market, while schools accounted for $110 million. A CD-ROM disc can store 650 million characters and 10,000 photographs. CD-ROMs tend to be favored by parents who are college educated and have household incomes of at least $70,000.
