TORONTO STAR TO DEBUT NEW CAREERS SECTION

The Toronto Star will debut a new careers section on Saturday. The section will combine all the newspaper's career and employment advertising with content from its business section. A new feature called Workplace will list "less senior" positions and those with salaries under $50,000. The section will be published every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Its launch will be promoted with a media campaign consisting of in-paper promotion beginning Thursday, radio advertising breaking Saturday and transit advertising on GO Transit and the TTC beginning Monday. The advertising was created by The Star. Media buying was handled by Genesis Media of Toronto. Lara Barlow, manager of marketing and strategy for The Star's advertising division, said the newspaper expects the section to reach 1.74 million readers.
