PEPSI BEGINS JOY OF HOCKEY PROMOTION

Pepsi-Cola Canada of Mississauga hosted a hockey clinic for girls from the Mississauga Girls Hockey League yesterday to begin its new "Joy of Hockey" promotion. The promotion will run in Canadian stores until March 22. Consumers can win one of 2,500 prizes including air hockey tables, street hockey nets, collector hockey pucks, sticks and hockey bags. Consumers receive an entry form with the purchase of certain Pepsi brands. These include Pepsi, diet Pepsi, Pepsi Blue, Pepsi Twist, diet Pepsi Twist, 7UP, Diet 7UP and Mountain Dew. In-store materials created by Capital C of Toronto are supporting the contest. Also, Pepsi and its affiliated business divisions Frito-Lay Canada and Quaker-Tropicana-Gatorade have signed a four-year sponsorship deal with the Canadian Hockey Association. Pepsi has become the official soft drink and Frito-Lay has become the official snack food of Canada's Men's and Women's Hockey teams and the CHA. QTG will have exclusive rights in the sports drink category. Public relations for Pepsi are handled by Praxis Public Relations of Mississauga.
