L'Oréal Canada and CanWest Global Communications have begun a joint promotion for International Women's Day on March 8. A three-week multimedia program will break this week. Thirty-second television commercials will air nationally on CanWest properties including Global TV, CH and Prime TV. On Feb. 24, vignettes produced from interviews with Global TV women will start to air. A week later a series of ads will break intended to drive traffic to the <http://www.lorealparis.ca> Web site. At the site visitors can get information about International Women's Day and send e-cards to other people. An area at <http://www.canada.com> will also focus on International Women's Day. On March 7, visitors to the site will see a transitional ad with a link to the L'Oréal Paris Web site. The program will also include an eight-page supplement called "Power 50 Women" which will recognize the achievements of Canadian women. It will be promoted in the National Post and distributed in the National Post, Calgary Herald and Vancouver Sun on March 8. The program's creative was done by Marketel and CanWest. The campaign was organized by Optimedia, L'Oréal's media agency. Public relations supporting International Women's Day are being handled by Continental Communications.
