TORONTO STAR ALTERS APPEARANCE
By Adnews Staff
One million copies of the Toronto Star were printed yesterday to promote the newspaper's updated design. The work was done by independent newspaper re-designer Lucie Lacava and an in-house staff at the paper. The word "The" has been dropped from the name, a new typeface called "Torstar" has been introduced and the entertainment and Greater Toronto sections have been renamed GTA and A&E, respectively. Additional sections and features will be introduced over the next few weeks, according to the paper. The publication's Web site at <http://www.thestar.com> has also been updated to make use of a "cleaner, brighter" design. The site now offers a "Pages from the Past" section in which readers can search back copies of the newspaper. The Web site work was performed in-house. A teaser advertising campaign began running in late October to promote the overall Toronto Star brand. This campaign will be updated to include the re-designed newspaper. Created by Enterprise Creative Selling of Toronto, it includes print, television and radio advertising that will run until early December.
