VANCOUVER OLYMPIC BID GROUP DEBUTS CANDIDATE CITY LOGO
By Adnews Staff
The Vancouver 2010 Bid Corp. unveiled its candidate city logo on Friday. The logo is an updated version of the corporation's previous logo, which consisted of a red maple leaf behind a blue mountain, the numbers "2010" in blue, yellow, green and red and the word "Vancouver" in black. The new logo adds the Olympic Rings and the text "Vancouver 2010 Candidate City" in blue lettering. The changes were made when Vancouver was placed on the shortlist of candidate cities for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and Paralympic Winter Games last month. Lanyon Phillips Communications of Vancouver handled the original work and the update. The new logo will be used by the International Olympic Committee on its international communications and by the Vancouver 2010 Bid Corp., which is restricted to using it for informational rather than commercial purposes, according to Sam Corea, director of media relations for the bid corporation. The host city for the 2010 games will be announced on July 2, 2003. Salzburg, Austria, Pyeongchang, Korea and Berne, Switzerland are also in contention.
