MICHAEL JORDAN TO DINE MORE OFTEN IN TORONTO
By Adnews Staff
Basketball star Michael Jordan has chosen Toronto for the opening of his second restaurant. Although a site hasn't been chosen yet, the sports idol appeared at a press conference before a game against the Raptors yesterday to hype a new eatery that will bear his name. Plans call for a 12,000-square-foot eating and fun complex, somewhere in the downtown area. The moving force behind this enterprise is Toronto lawyer and Jordan fan Wayne Novak, who is fronting a group of investors in a company called Airball Investments. Novak told Adnews that he definitely intends to advertise. He said he will be guided in the way he handles advertising by the public relations agency he hired to get the initial word out on the restaurant, Langdon Starr of Toronto. Jordan, star of the Chicago Bulls and one of the most popular sports celebrities in the world, said he hoped the The Michael Jordan Restaurant in Toronto would become a tourist attraction like the one in Chicago. The Toronto eatery will be patterned after the establishment in the windy city. It will include an area with mini-basketball courts and other items of entertainment for youngsters, and a sports bar for the older kids. Jordan will also be testing his strokes at a new golf tournament to be played on a course in the Toronto area. Proceeds from the annual Michael Jordan Golf Classic will go to local charities.
