By Adnews Staff
Four Canadians have responded to Toronto-based Dunlop Tires' "Tired of Your Name" challenge. The promotion, which began in December, invited Canadians with the last name "Dunlop" to legally change their name to "Dunlop-Tire". According to the tire maker, Traci Dunlop-Tire of Calgary, Jason Dunlop-Tire of Winnipeg, Bill Dunlop-Tire of Toronto and Peter Dunlop-Tire of Barrie, ON have presented proof that they have changed their last names. They will each receive $6, 250 in addition to the cost of the name changes. Approximately 1,000 information kits were distributed to Canadian Dunlops at the start of the contest. Forty-nine Canadians had expressed interest by the entry deadline. Dunlop Tires spokesperson Jane Wilcox said a number of summer marketing plans may include the four winners, but there are no details available at this time. Public and media relations for the contest were handled by Environics Communications of Toronto. Advertising for Dunlop Tires is done by Due North Communications, also of Toronto.
