HEALTH CANADA DELIVERS FOLIC ACID AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
By Adnews Staff
Health Canada is undertaking a national campaign that focuses on the benefits of folic acid in preventing birth defects and the importance of good nutrition. The three-year campaign was created by BCP of Montreal and includes print ads, posters and information pamphlets. The creative describes the importance of folic acid in preventing neural tube defects. These abnormalities of the spine, brain or skull can occur if the part of a developing fetus called the neural tube does not close properly in early pregnancy. The campaign's tagline is "It's never to early to ask your health professional about folic acid." Print ads will run in Chatelaine, Today's Parent, Flare, 7 Jours and Clin d'oeil. Posters have been distributed to colleges, universities and fitness centres. Pamphlets have been prepared aimed at women of child-bearing age.
