BURGER KING PROMOTES 45TH ANNIVERSARY OF WHOPPER

Toronto-based Burger King Restaurants of Canada will undertake a new marketing campaign over the next three months to promote the 45th anniversary of its Whopper sandwich. Created by L.A.-based Amoeba and adapted for Canada by Toronto-based Ammirati Puris, the campaign breaks tomorrow with a television commercial featuring Shaquille O'Neal. In the spot O'Neal walks through the past 45 years as he goes to get a Whopper. The ad also introduces Burger King's new tagline, "@ BK You Got It," and a new Burger King song. Radio advertising and local print advertising are also planned. The campaign will also promote new products such as the Chicken Whopper and Chicken Whopper Jr. sandwiches, which will be introduced next month. In April a product called Shake 'Em Up Fries will be added to Burger King's menu for a limited time. The fries are served in a bag which customers shake to coat the fries with a cheese seasoning. Over the next few months Burger King will also introduce a line of premium shakes, two new dessert items and two BK Back Porch Grillers.
