PEPSI BEGINS NEW IN-STORE CONTEST

Pepsi-Cola Canada Ltd. is starting a new in-store contest this week to promote its Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, 7UP and Mountain Dew brands. The four-week contest, called "Race for Taste", will give away prizes including race car beds, weekends for two at a racing school, trips to Nascar races and remote control race cars. Participating Canadian retailers will support the promotion in-stores with a 6 foot stand-up of Winston Cup Champion Jeff Gordon. Gordon's car is sponsored by Pepsi. Additional promotional materials will include inflatable remote control cars and race car displays built out of Pepsi 12-packs. Ballots and mail-in entry forms will be included on the packaging of participating products. The promotion runs until Feb. 23. Adaption of the promotion for Canada was done by Accumark of Toronto. Adaptation of the U.S. creative was done by Hunter Straker, also of Toronto. Public relations for Pepsi-Cola Canada are handled by Praxis Public Relations of Burlington, ON.
