MCDONALD'S RELEASES NEW OLYMPIC CAMPAIGN
By Adnews Staff
McDonald's Restaurants of Canada Ltd. will start its latest Olympic advertising during the opening ceremonies on Friday. The campaign was created by Cossette Communication-Marketing and will run in English Canada for the duration of the games. The campaign consists of a series of 30- and 60-second television commercials in which Canadians of various backgrounds and ages answer the question, "Who you give your last McDonald's French fry to?" Don Cherry, Wayne Gretzky and his father Walter Gretxky appear in the campaign. The ad ends with a 10-year-old girl who says, "my last fry goes to the whole Canadian Olympic Team." Don Cherry then says, "And let them fight over it." The television advertising will be supported with an outdoor billboard along Toronto's Gardiner Expressway, also debuting on Friday. The billboard will display an Olympic highlight with the copy "Today's last fry goes to ..." McDonald's is a TOP Global Sponsor and the official restaurant of the Olympic Games. Public relations for McDonald's are handled by Weber Shandwick Worldwide.
