BBDO PICKS UP SEARS CANADA ACCOUNT

Sears has made BBDO Canada its new advertising agency. BBDO won the account over J. Walter Thompson, said Nina MacLaverty, vice-president of retail marketing for Sears Canada. The two agencies were drawn from an inital list of ten, she said. Sears began a review after its previous agency, Ammirati Puris of Toronto, resigned the account in November. BBDO will be responsible for strategic planning and creative advertising. Media buying for the retailer will continue to be handled by The Media Edge.
