MICROSOFT READIES WINDOWS XP CAMPAIGN

Microsoft Canada, based in Mississauga, will promote the October 25 release of its new Windows XP operating system with an advertising campaign that will break on October 22. The campaign will consist of television and print executions adapted from a global marketing effort created by McCann-Erickson of San Francisco. The campaign uses the theme "Yes You Can" and the song "Ray of Light" by Madonna. The ads focus on the experiences Windows XP enables people to have with their PCs. Television and print advertising will be accompanied by radio and transit shelter advertising created for the Canadian market by MacLaren McCann of Toronto. The agency also handled the adaptation of the campaign's television and print creative for Canada. Public relations for Microsoft Canada are handled by Hill and Knowlton of Toronto.
