The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has approved the short-term use of radio frequency 107.7 FM by Toronto-based Corus Entertainment for the purposes of covering the 2001 Alliance London Canada Summer Games next month. The Games will be hosted by an alliance of groups which includes the Cities of London, St. Thomas and Woodstock, the Village of Grand Bend and The University of Western Ontario. The event will take place in London, Ontario from August 10 to August 25. Canada Games Radio 107.7 FM will offer attendees and athletes current Games information. Coverage of ticket availability, delays, cancellations, entertainment, souvenir outlets and weather forecasts will be broadcast in eight-minute English and French reports repeated continuously over a 24-hour period. Canada Games Radio is expected to provide coverage for a 60 kilometre radius around the city of London. "We are proud to welcome Corus as a Games Platinum Sponsor and we applaud this new and innovative approach to Games coverage," said Phil Bowman, co-chair of the Alliance London Canada Summer Games.
