MCDONALD'S TESTS NEW CONCEPTS
By Adnews Staff
Poutine and McLobster along with double pickup lanes and a 30-second-or-free HBO (Hand-the-bag-out-the-window) service are some of the new concepts Toronto-based McDonald's Restaurants of Canada is currently testing, according to a report in The Globe and Mail. The initiatives are part of an attempt by the company to stay ahead of its competition in the fast-food industry. In Canada McDonald's biggest competition is from Wendy's International's Tim Hortons coffee and donut chain, the report said. McDonald's is also experimenting with the espresso coffee, cold sandwiches and cakes on its menus. Also, the company is keeping many of its locations open 24 hours a day and opening others at 6:00 a.m. to serve the breakfast crowd.
