PEPSI GIVES CONSUMERS A TWIST
By Adnews Staff
Pepsi-Cola Canada Ltd. of Mississauga will bring Canadians two new beverages this summer: Mountain Dew Code Red and Pepsi Twist. Code Red, which adds a cherry flavour to the soda, is the first extension of Pepsi's Mountain Dew line since the introduction of Diet Mountain Dew in the early 1990s. Code Red will initially be available in 600 ml containers. Two-litre bottles will be introduced this fall. Marketing support for Code Red will include television advertising, product sampling and other unspecified promotional activities. Pepsi Twist adds lemon flavour to Pepsi and Diet Pepsi. According to the company, many consumers already add lemon to their cola, so Pepsi Twist was a natural extension of the product. Pepsi Twist will be available in 600 ml, 2-litre and 12-pack can sizes. National radio spots, in-theatre advertising and promotions including an initiative with Pizza Hut will support the debut of Pepsi Twist. Marketing activities for both drinks, appearing in stores this week, will run for the duration of the summer. Advertising for Pepsi-Cola Canada is done by BBDO Canada. Public relations are handled by Praxis Public Relations of Burlington, ON.
