DAYS INN AND CLOROX CLEAN UP

Days Inns - Canada and The Clorox Company of Canada are teaming up again for a "Clean Getaway". The national sweepstakes promotion will run from August 2001 to July 2002 on 1.1 million bottles of Clorox's Pine-Sol and Tilex household cleaning products. Consumers who purchase either product and mail-in the proof of purchase will have the chance to win $25,000 cash or one of 125 two night stays at any Days Inn location in Canada. The Toronto-based hotel chain first teamed with Clorox last year in a similar promotion in which a window on specially-marked packages of Clorox products was used to reveal if the consumer was a winner. "Both Days Inn and Pine-Sol share a common target consumer so the promotion is a natural fit for us, granting us exposure to non-traditional retail channels," said Melissa Evans, director of national marketing for Days Inns - Canada. Clorox's Pine-Sol and Tilex products are distributed in grocery, drug, convenience and mass merchandise stores. The "Clean Getaway" promotion is being handled by Clorox's promotional agency, Glavin & Associates of Toronto.
