By Adnews Staff
Wal-Mart Canada Corp., based in Mississauga, has brought a new line of General Electric brand small appliances to its 176 stores. Under an exclusive trademark licensing agreement, the appliances will be manufactured for Wal-Mart under the GE brand name. Over 20 items are in the new Wal-Mart/GE line, including kitchen grills, toasters, vacuums, fans, irons, coffee makers, food mixers, curling irons and blow dryers. Yesterday's Canadian debut of the line follows its roll-out in U.S. Wal-Mart stores last year. "This is a great product launch for Canadian consumers," said Wal-Mart Canada's chief executive Mario Pilozzi. "For more than 120 years the General Electric brand name has been synonymous with top quality. This new and exclusive product line will give Canadians access to outstanding GE branded small appliances at Wal-Mart's very low prices." Wal-Mart will support the new line with in-store signage and shopping cart advertising created in-house. The retailer will also promote the line in its flyer and on its in-store radio program.
