Vancouver-based Nintendo of Canada will release Pokemon Stadium 2 for the Nintendo 64 game console on Monday, backed by a month-long ad effort. The game is a sequel to last year's Pokemon Stadium. Pokemon Stadium 2 features four new tournaments, 12 new mini-games and special Poke-quizzes which players must solve to become the Pokemon Stadium champion. Nintendo is promoting the game with television and print advertising. TV began a four-week run in English Canada on March 12. Four weeks of TV advertising in Quebec will begin on March 26. Prints ads will run in upcoming issues of magazines aimed at kids and tweens. A spring break promotion was also held in Toys R Us stores from March 10 to 18. A mall tour stopping at shopping centres in Edmonton, Vancouver, Montreal and Mississauga will stage Pokemon Stadium 2 mini-tournaments and hand out give-aways. Advertising for Nintendo is done by Leo Burnett. Public relations are handled by GCI Group. Both companies are based in Toronto.
