JITEC HIRES NATIONAL PUBLIC RELATIONS
By Adnews Staff
Montreal-based computer company Jitec Inc. has retained the services of National Public Relations, also of Montreal. National's investor relations group will provide media relations and company communications services. Previously these activities were handled in-house. The agency was hired based on a referral from a Jitec board member. Jitec is in particular need of some investor relations advice at this time due to allegations made against the company's former president and CEO Benoît Laliberté, who temporarily stepped down from his duties earlier this month and officially resigned last week. According to media reports, the Quebec Securities Commission placed a trading ban on Laliberté on November 10 alleging he had heavily traded Jitec's stock and not reported many of the trades. He appears before the QSC December 1, according to a report in the National Post, to present his side. Jitec's vice president of operations Michel Brown, is serving as interim president.
