H.J. Heinz Company of Canada Ltd. has appointed Mark Leckie its new president and chief executive officer. Leckie, who assumed the position yesterday, succeeds Brian Falck, who had led the company's Canadian subsidiary for the past two years. Leckie was previously president of the U.S. grocery division at Campbell Soup Company. He has also held senior management jobs at Kraft Foods and Nabisco Brands.

Kadi Kaljuste has joined the Toronto office of Hill and Knowlton as vice president of marketing communications. Kaljuste joins H&K from OEB International, where she most recently worked as managing director.

BenchMark Porter Novelli has promoted several employees. Mary Sturgeon and Sheila Corriveau, previously directors of the e-business practice and consumer practice respectively, have both been promoted to vice president positions. Sturgeon's new role is within the agency's corporate practice, while Corriveau is now in BenchMark's consumer practice. The agency has also promoted four of its senior consultants to managers. Alison Philips is now manager of the consumer technology practice, Maria Antonopoulos manager of the consumer practice, Allison Mudge manager of the global practice and Stacey Tessis manager of the agency's corporate software practice.
