BURGER KING BITES DOWN ON NEW PROMOTION

Toronto-based Burger King Restaurants of Canada Inc. commenced a month-long "Bite the Cup" instant win promotion yesterday. The Halloween contest's grand prize is a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. Instant win prizes include Ericsson cell phones, Barq's barking key chains and Burger King food and beverage items. Customers receive a contest cup with the purchase of a Value Meal during the month of October. To see is they are a winner, customers look under the lips of the cups. The Bite the Cup contest is being promoted with national television and radio advertising created by Ammirati Puris of Toronto and Bleu Blanc Rouge of Montreal. A partnership with Hyundai Auto Canada will put the Santa Fe SUV on display at select Burger King locations around Canada. Customers who test drive a vehicle at any Canadian Hyundai dealership will receive a free Whopper sandwich coupon. Public relations for Burger King are handled by Budman and Associates of Toronto.
