BC SAVINGS AND CREDIT UNIONS EXTEND NATURE CAMPAIGN

The Savings and Credit Unions of BC kicked-off a series of five new television commercials this week, begining the sixth year of its "nature" advertising campaign. The new spots are designed to remind British Columbia residents that credit unions are an alternative to big banks. The spots poke fun at Canada's big banks while asking the question "Why bank when you can credit union?" The 15-second spots were created by Wasserman and Partners Advertising of Vancouver. In one execution, a chimpanzee is seen doing the Macarena to celebrate his credit union membership. Another shows several exotic cranes performing a Mexican hat dance, while a third consists of a group of camels dancing to disco music. The last two commercials in the series feature a sad orangutan and a depressed polar bear weeping over the fact that they are still with a bank. The television commercials are being supported with in-branch posters and a Web site created by Wasserman Interactive.
