FUEL GETS DRAFTED
By Adnews Staff
Chicago-based DraftWorldwide is fueling up in Canada. The global marketing agency, a unit of The Interpublic Group of Companies Inc., has acquired the operations of Toronto-based marketing agency Fuel Advertising Inc. The deal is the third acquisition DraftWorldwide has made in Canada in less than two years. Two years ago it acquired Toronto-based The Gingko Group. In February of this year it acquired a number of Montreal-based Groupe Everest's operating divisions. Stacey Cohen, spokesperson for DraftWorldwide, said the deal strengthens DraftWorldwide's network across Canada. Fuel gains access to DraftWorldwide's expertise in direct, promotional and digital marketing. The agency will continue to operate under the Fuel Advertising name and senior management are expected to maintain their positions. No client conflicts have been reported as a result of the acquisition. Fuel's clients include The Hudson's Bay Company, Canada Post Corporation and Sunquest Vacations Ltd. Financial details were not disclosed.
