DRIVERS PREPARE FOR ONLINE AZTEKTREK

General Motors of Canada, based in Oshawa, Ontario, is gearing up for the launch of its Aztektrek rally beginning August 21. The online contest is supporting the national rollout of GM's Pontiac Aztek, sports recreation vehicle. The AztekTrek will see teams of five driving across Canada on the Internet, collecting points along the way. The object of the rally is to drive a team's virtual Aztek across Canada as many times as possible, earning points with each crossing. Drivers also earn points through a number of other ways including when they register for the rally, recruit addition drivers, visit the AztekTrek site, locate a check point or click onto a corporate partner's Web site. Grand prize is a 2000 Pontiac Aztek for every member of the winning team. Secondary prizes such as Sea-Doo Watercrafts, an ATV, a Sea-Doo sports boat and instant online daily prizes are also available to be won. Pre-registration for the rally, is on now. Dealer posters, print ads in urban weeklies and 10-second television billboards from MacLaren McCann of Toronto are supporting the rally. Public and media relations is being handled by Shandwick Canada, also of Toronto. Corporate partners include: Bombardier Recreational Products, Futureshop.ca, Samsung, E*Trade Canada, netjewels.com, Ontario Parks, CCM and Whistler Blackcomb.
