OUTER SPACE ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITIES NOW AVAILABLE
By Adnews Staff
An agreement between MirCorp, which manages the operation of the Mir space station and Toronto-based public relations company GPC International is giving advertisers and sponsors the opportunity to have their corporate logo placed in outer space. The two are offering a range of sponsorship and advertising packages available on MIR with price tags beginning at $250,000. GPC had previously worked with MirCorp's vice president of business development and was given this assignment based on that work. Packages available range from promotion and advertising rights, which offers sponsors the right to use the Mir and MirCorp name and logo in their promotion to "Citizen Explorer" mission sponsorships, which are open to a few companies to sponsor the journey of a private citizen to Mir. The first "Citizen Explorer" is the American millionaire businessman Dennis Tito, who is scheduled to launch into space in 2001. Freda Kemp, director, sponsorship with GPC International in Toronto, said the agency is looking for global brands to come forward.
