POKEMON RETURNS TO BURGER KING

Toronto-based Burger King Restaurants of Canada Inc. is serving up another Pokemon promotion to tie in with another Pokemon movie. The six-week promotion launched on July 16 at all 332 Burger King restaurants in Canada, five days before Warner Bros. Pictures July 21st release of Pokemon The Movie 2000. The promotion is designed to build on the popularity of Pokemon trainer Ash Ketchum and the Pokemon characters. Customers buying a Burger King Kids meal will receive one of 24 Pokemon 2000 Power 3-D trading cards. National television, regional radio, print advertising and in-restaurant signage support the promotion. Burger King has also added a Pokemon The Movie 2000 area to its Web site. The micro-site includes a master Pokemon collector's page and a movie trailer page. Television advertising was created by Lowe Lintas of New York. Adaptation of the spot and all other advertising was done by Ammirati Puris of Toronto. Public relations for Burger King are handled by Budman and Associates, also of Toronto.
