JTI-Macdonald Corporation has appointed Andrew Shannon vice president, marketing. In his new role, Shannon will be responsible for brand strategy and marketing for domestic cigarettes, fine cut, imported products and cigars. He joins JTI-Macdonald from Johnson and Johnson where he spent 13 years in various senior positions in marketing and sales. His most recent roles include national director of medical sales and director of marketing services.
MaxxMedia Inc. has hired a trio of new employees to work on a variety of accounts. Beth Aaltonen joins the agency as media coordinator, working on the Canadian Investment & Savings and M&M Meat Shop accounts. Prior to MaxxMedia, she was an advertising sales coordinator at Toronto Life magazine. Shawna Armstrong and Marisa Virdo both join the agency as media coordinators after recently graduating. Armstrong will be working on the Bank of Montreal and Chariots.com accounts. She recently graduated from Mohawk College with a diploma in advertising and media communications. Virdo's responsibilities will include the Cineplex Odeon and Ferrero Canada accounts. She recently graduated from Ryerson Polytechnic University with a bachelor of business management.
Vickers & Benson Direct Interactive has announced several recent employee promotions. Robin Whalen moves from account supervisor to account director, working on the Canadian Tourism Commission, NB Tel and Ralston Purina accounts. Craig Horning and Laura Plant both move from account executive to account supervisor, direct, with Horning working on Sprint Canada's long distance and The Most Online programs and Plant working on the ascenda and Enterprise programs of the Sprint Canada business. Olivia Aeckerle is promoted from account coordinator to account executive, direct. In her new role, she will continue on the Canadian Tourism Commission, NB Tel, Oshawa General Hospital Foundation and Canada Investments and Savings accounts. Erin Bunker is promoted to account executive after serving as account coordinator for the past year. In her new role, she will continue on the Ralston Purina and Sprint Canada accounts, taking on increased responsibility.
