TVB AND TELECASTER BECOME ONE
By Adnews Staff
Two television industry organizations have announced they will join forces this fall. The Telecaster Committee of Canada Inc., which clears commercials, infomercials and public service announcements for many private television stations, networks and specialty services in Canada and The Television Bureau of Canada, which provides industry marketing support for many of those same television stations, will combine their services into one organization. The move to combine forces was brought on in part by the retirement of Telecaster president Pat Beatty. "Our memberships overlap to a great extent, and the Telecaster service to agencies and station members fits neatly into our new strategic plan," Greg Mudry, chairman of TVB's board of directors said, adding the merger is a natural move for TVB. Telecaster staff will be joining TVB at their offices later this year and no staff cuts are expected as a result of the September 1, merger, Jim Patterson, president and CEO of TVB said.
