Toronto-based Maverick Public Relations is celebrating its first year with several new account wins within the last month and a half. The agency recently added The Bulldog Group, Maptuit Inc., Metamail Inc., ecMarket.com, Datawire Communication Networks Inc., Quack.com and idoido.com to its roster bringing the total number of clients to 20. The Bulldog Group, based in Toronto, tapped Maverick late May to handle its internal communications and North American public relations. Maverick was awarded the account, previously handled in-house, following an agency review. Maptuit, with offices in Toronto and Dallas, hired Maverick in late May to handle its North American public relations following a referral for the agency from another client. Metamail of Toronto and ecMarket.com of Vancouver both turned to Maverick to handle their public relations activities in the U.S. Metamail awarded Maverick the business following a review and ecMarket.com turned to the agency after looking at several other U.S. and Canadian agencies. Toronto-based Datawire Communications joined the agency's roster late June following a referral from an outside contact. Maverick will be handling the company's North American public relations. Quack.com based in California, hired Maverick to handle the company's Canadian public relations following a referral from an outside contact. Quack.com's U.S. PR needs are handled by California-based Switzer Communications. Maverick will also be handling idoido.com's public relations needs in the Canadian market after winning the account through a referral from an outside contact. Julie Rusciolelli, president of Maverick, said the agency's plans for the next year include a strategic reorganization within the agency later this year to establish practice groups, expanding the number of staff with the appointment of new employees and possibly teaming up with an Investor Relations firm to offer clients IR services.
