GLOBE & MAIL AND GLOBEINVESTOR.COM SCORE HOLE IN ONE

Toronto-based Globe and Mail and globeinvestor.com are gearing up for a round of 18 holes. The national newspaper and the North American stock site have announced their official sponsorship of the 2000 Bell Canadian Open. The golf tournament runs September 4 through 10 at the Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario. Globeinvestor.com is part of the Globe Web centre produced by The Globe & Mail company's Internet division Globe Interactive. Both The Globe and Mail and globeinvestor.com will promote their sponsorship of the event as well as the event itself through marketing activities and ongoing promotions. A 9-week online "Golfer's Dream" contest also kicked off this week on globeinvestor.com, giving users the chance to win the ultimate golfer's dream of playing with a PGA tour player in the Canadian Open Pro-Am event at the Bell Canadian Open this fall. Users can also win weekly prizes consisting of Taylor Made Super Steel Irons and Taylor Made Durango Stand bags courtesy of golf retailer Nevada Bob's. "Golfer's Dream" is being supported with in-store promotional materials at Nevada Bob's locations across Canada, with print advertising in The Globe and Mail, Golf Canada, Score Golf, Cottage Life and the PGA souvenir program for the Bell Canadian Open and through online advertising. The contest runs until August 13. Users can enter every week during the contest. Prize sponsors include Rogaine and the Marriott Hotel.
