Compaq Canada Inc. has appointed David Booth president and managing director, effective May 15, 2000. Booth also assumes a position on Compaq Canada's board of directors and will serve as a member of its Canadian management staff. He comes to Compaq Canada from Compaq Computer Corporation of Houston, where he was vice president of North America for high-performance systems business. In his new job he will be responsible for Compaq Canada's overall operational activities.
Encore Encore Strategic Marketing has promoted Lianne Carter and Ira Baptiste to positions as account directors from positions as account supervisors. Carter will be responsible for managing international television and radio promotions currently launching in the UK, Australian, Asian and Latin American markets for Miller International, while Baptiste will be responsible for developing strategic and creative marketing campaigns for the Famous Players, Clearnet and Molson Canadian accounts.
Vickers & Benson Direct Interactive has added four new employees and promoted a fifth. Tracy Ennis returns to the agency as a writer on the Bank of Montreal, Canadian Tourism Commission and Sprint accounts. Most recently she held the same position at Leo Burnett. Shannon House has been appointed direct account coordinator on the Sprint and Bank of Montreal accounts. Prior to joining VBDI House worked in the financial industry for three years. Trish Thornton comes to the firm as information architect, handling Web development on all accounts and new business. Most recently she was a freelance producer. Karin Tuira has been appointed direct account executive, working on the Ralston Purina and Canadian Tourism Commission accounts. Tuira joins VBDI from DraftWorldwide Canada where she worked as account executive. Leann Bach who previously held administrative positions, has been promoted to the role of account coordinator. She will be working on the Canada Investment & Savings and Lennox accounts.
