Toronto-based Funtime Hospitality Corporation, which holds the Canadian license to the Dave & Buster's concept, has tapped the Toronto offices of NextMedia to handle advertising and public relations. Funtime Hospitality will be introducing the Dave & Buster's concept to Canada with the launch of a flagship restaurant in Toronto in May 2000. Five more locations are scheduled to open in markets across Canada by 2004. Dave & Buster's first Canadian location will be a 65,000 square foot facility offering customers an interactive game play area and a separate dinning room. The entertainment complex will targeted the 21-49 year old age group with an advertising and public relations campaign beginning in April. NextMedia was awarded the account based on work it had previously completed for Michael Mandel, chairman and CEO of Funtime. Nancy Smith, president of NextMedia said the advertising and PR will titillate consumers to sample Dave & Buster's. "Once a customer experiences the great food, comfortable environment and broad range of fun, they're hooked, and return again and again," she said.
