EPILEPSY CANADA STEPS OUT OF THE SHADOWS
By Adnews Staff
In conjunction with the launch of National Epilepsy Awareness Month in March, Montreal-based Epilepsy Canada has launched an awareness campaign directed towards the general public. This year's theme "Bringing epilepsy out of the shadows" is designed to encourage people to talk about epilepsy as well as demonstrate the importance of knowing more about the neurological disorder. Conferences and activities will be held across the country throughout the month and fact sheets are being distributed on different topics surrounding the disorder. Epilepsy Canada will also be launching a national advertising campaign that will include transit advertising, radio and television public service announcements and print. Posters will be placed in highly visible areas and promotion will also be seen on scoreboards in several Canadian professional sports arenas. The campaign was created by BDDS Shandwick of Montreal. Epilepsy Canada has two objectives, to create awareness among the population by producing information materials and to raise funds to support research for discovering a cause and treatment for the disorder. Advertising is scheduled to run throughout the month of March and awareness efforts continue throughout the year.
