MAXXCOM GROWING LARGER AND LARGER
By Adnews Staff
Following the announcement last week of its acquisition of Fletcher Martin Associates of Atlanta, Toronto-based MDC's communications and marketing services division Maxxcom Inc. has now acquired a majority stake in Allard and Associates of Montreal. Allard will be merging with Toronto-based LBJ-FRB Communications, a Maxxcom company, to form Allard Johnson Communications Inc. Both Allard and Associates and LBJ-FRB have experience in social marketing, wellness and financial services. Allard's client roster includes Dairy Farmers of Canada, Royal Bank Financial Group and Wal-Mart, whereas LBJ-FRB's clients include Dairy Farmers of Ontario, Parke Davis and Human Resources Development Canada. MDC will hold a 50.1% ownership in the merged company for which it paid $2.2 million CDN in cash and stock. Terry Johnson, president of LBJ-FRB, will be president and CEO of the new Allard Johnson and Gaetan Bouchard, president and CEO of Allard, will be executive vice president and general manager of the Montreal office. Maxxcom now offers services in advertising, direct marketing, database management, public relations and branding. Future plans of the division include several additional acquisitions in both the U.S. and Canada.
