ROGERS CANTEL AND SILCORP PARTNER IN MARKETING DEAL

Rogers Cantel and Silcorp Limited, which operates the Mac's, Mike's Mart, Beckers and Wink's convenience store chains, have teamed together to sell pre-paid cellular phone cards to Ontarians. In a new marketing agreement, Silcorp will retail Rogers Cantel AT&T Pay As You Go cards in 287 Becker's, 235 Mac's, 86 Mike's Mart and 15 Wink stores across Ontario. Silcorp is the latest addition to Rogers' Pay As You Go retail distribution network, which also includes Radio Shack, Petro Canada, Future Shop, Canada Post and 7-Eleven stores. "One of the key strategic goals is simplicity and what better way to simplify how customers purchase Pay As You Go cards than to make them available at their local convenience store," said Patrick Bennett, executive vice president of sales and operations at Rogers Cantel. Rogers Cantel first launched its Cantel AT&T Pay As You Go cellular service in May 1998. Rogers Cantel AT&T Pay As You Go cards made their debut in Mac's, Mike's Mart, Beckers and Wink's convenience stores late November.
